Located in the heart of beautiful Austin, TX, Centerpath Wellness is an acupuncture and natural health clinic devoted to you and your family’s general health needs.
Sita Chokkalingam is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she holds a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM), and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
As an herbalist, Sita specializes in Canonical Chinese Medicine, a style of herbal medicine based on the Chinese Han-dynasty classical texts, and has completed 400+ hours of advanced post-graduate training at the Institute of Classics of East Asian Medicine (ICEAM) where she is a Diplomate. She continues to study regularly with her teacher, Arnaud Versluys, every year.
Sita has been treating patients since 2007, and has successfully treated a wide variety of health conditions, chronic and acute, complex and mild. As a patient of Chinese Medicine herself, she has experienced first-hand how gentle yet effective the modalities of Chinese Medicine are at transforming debilitating illness and restoring health, even when other forms of medicine have been tried and not been as successful.
What she loves most is seeing the joy return to her patient’s lives as their health improves and they are able to resume doing the things they love. Sita is dedicated to helping people of all ages heal and feel better. She takes a comprehensive approach, tailoring treatments and recommendations to each individual’s unique needs, thus not only easing symptoms but optimizing health. A firm believer in integrative medicine, she enjoys working with her patients’ other practitioners to help her patients reach their health goals.
Sita has advanced training in Women’s Health & Obstetrics, Orthopedics and musculoskeletal injuries, and Pediatrics. In addition to private practice, she has worked and interned in a variety of settings including San Francisco Community Acupuncture, the California Pacific Medical Center (stroke and post-surgical rehab), and the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic (chronic illness & HIV integrative care). She completed advanced acupuncture and herbal medicine training at ZheJiang University in Hang Zhou, China.
Sita is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners and is nationally board-certified by the NCCAOM.
When she’s not in clinic, Sita loves taking walks with her dogs, cooking, baking, tending her garden, and spending time with family and friends.
